corporate social responsibility

As global HR services company, Randstad contributes to society everyday. Working closely with our partners and local communities, we create and match job demand and give people access to fulfilling and ethically sound work.

Our processes are based on core values that drive us forward, shaping our culture and governing our work. Our core value of simultaneously promoting all interests, underlies everything that we do. We have a strong history of taking all stakeholder’s interests into account. We are committed to activities that are ethical, environmentally sustainable and continuously beneficial to our internal and external communities.

Globally, Randstad is a signatory of the Memorandum of Understanding to create partnership and a global social dialogue to achieve fair conditions for the temporary agency work industry and temporary workers around the world.

Randstad has been included in the Dow Jones World Sustainability Index for the sixth time in a row (Index 2008). We have also been listed in the FTSE4Good Index. Companies are included in this Index if they meet strict criteria relating to environmental impact, labour standards, human rights and stakeholder relationships.

voluntary service overseas (VSO)

Randstad has a far-reaching partnership with the NGO, Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO). This partnership is fully in line with Randstad’s long-standing commitment to CSR and our desire to apply knowledge and skills on a global level to help alleviate poverty. VSO’s core activity is matching volunteers’ skills with the needs of communities in the developing world. By borrowing from Randstad’s core competencies and leveraging our network, VSO can stimulate even more positive change.

Commitment to the partnership is Group-wide, and many countries have taken the initiative to host events and start activities that have helped raise awareness of VSO. Currently, there are more than 50 initiatives taking place throughout Randstad to support the partnership.

VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) is an international development organisation that works with volunteers. VSO does not send food or money to developing countries. Instead, they take a “people to people” approach. VSO places volunteers from a wide range of professions in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, the Pacific and Eastern Europe. VSO volunteers bring with them expertise in such areas as education, healthcare, HIV & AIDS, and business management.

With Randstad, the focus is on sustainable development rather than short-term relief. By working in partnership with local people, VSO volunteers share skills and knowledge with a community that will benefit them long after their placement has finished. Volunteers, in turn, have the opportunity to learn from their peers in developing countries. The knowledge they gain can be shared and built upon back home.
