A total of 9.94 million jobs were generated in China during the nine months to September this year.
This is according to official figures for the country, which show that the nation has already exceeded a government target of nine million new paid positions by the end of 2011, China Daily reports.
The announcement was made by Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security spokesman Yin Chengji, who explained that the urban jobless rate stood at 4.1 per cent by September this year, remaining stable from the previous quarter.
He added that 4.36 million members of staff who lost their jobs were assisted in finding new ones over the first nine months of the year and declared efforts to create additional employment will be accelerated over the rest of 2011.
Mr Yin stated that policies such as tax incentives and financial help will continue in order to generate positions and trials of pension initiatives will continue.
His comments follow remarks made by Chinese premier Wen Jiabao during a recent visit to the Guangxi region in which he stated job creation remains a key focus of the nation's government.
