Labor migrants can work for more years in Taiwan

People who are migrating to Taiwan in order to find work are about to see an extension to the amount of time they can spend in the country for the purposes of employment.

Currently, people who are foreign but work in Taiwan are only allowed to stay in the country for up to nine years. However, a revision of the Employment Services Act means that those who are coming into the country will soon be able to stay for up to 12 years.

This move was taken as the parliament in Taiwan was told that increasing the time people can work in the country would reduce the money that companies need to spend on training new employees year-on-year.

Tax-news.com has also reported that the fines given to companies for the late payment of fees for employing foreign workers would be reduced.

Foreign workers are popular in the Far East, and it was recently reported that 50 per cent of all foreigners in China are there for employment purposes.
