about our client

Our client is a leading logistics provider and has a strong presence in over 45 countries with 12,500 employees worldwide. As they are expanding in Malaysia, our client is seeking an Accountant to join their Finance team.

about the role

In a team of 3, the Accountant will work under the supervision of the Financial Accounting Manager. The individual will carry out all aspects of accounting functions which encompasses all aspects of RTR, PTP and ITC within the team.

responsibilities

  • Perform month end reporting process including SAP close off
  • Assist the Financial Accounting manager to prepare the Yearly & Half-yearly Statutory & Taxation packages.
  • Raise and process intercompany invoices in SAP, resolve intercompany mismatches.
  • Reporting on all intercompany recharges.
  • Perform reconciliation on balance sheet accounts and vendor accounts.
  • Prepare and post manual journals.
  • Reconcile and prepare sundry local tax payments
  • Perform fixed asset accounting related tasks
  • Review and approve payment proposals
  • Liaise with vendors and resolve payment disputes
  • Contact customer for collection and resolve disputes
  • Set up new customer accounts
  • Raise sundry customer invoices
  • Complete government surveys/local tax reporting as required
  • Update Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) on a regular basis or as instructed by the Senior Financial Accountant
  • Assist with internal and external audits

requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance or related discipline.
  • Certified Accountant (e.g. ACA, AIMA, CPA, CA relevant to the market)
  • At least 2 years experience in listed company multinational environment reporting required; IFRS and MFRS experience is desirable
  • Experience with local GAAP applicable to the region
  • Experience working with SAP
  • Attention to detail and solid numeracy skills
  • Good analytical, organizational and problem solving abilities
  • Intermediate level Excel skills
