Hybrid role combines product management responsibilities with agile coaching and Scrum Master duties to ensure that the development team delivers high-quality products that align with business objectives and are developed using agile principles. It's a role that requires strong communication, leadership, and coaching skills, as well as a deep understanding of both product management and agile methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership (70%)
- Product Vision: The hybrid role sets and communicates a clear product vision, aligning it with the organization's goals and customer needs
- Backlog Management: Manages the product backlog, including prioritizing features, user stories, and tasks to ensure the most valuable work is tackled first
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborates closely with stakeholders, such as customers, users, and the development team, to gather and prioritize requirements
- Acceptance Criteria: Defines and communicates clear acceptance criteria for user stories, ensuring that the development team understands what success looks like
Agile Coaching (30%)
- Process Facilitation: Facilitates agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to promote a collaborative and efficient workflow
- Team Empowerment: Empowers development teams to be self-organizing and cross-functional, encouraging them to take ownership of their work
- Continuous Improvement: Identifies areas for process improvement and coaches teams on implementing changes to enhance productivity and product quality
- Scrum Master Duties: In many cases, the hybrid role takes on some Scrum Master responsibilities, such as removing impediments and ensuring the team follows agile best practices

skills & experience required
- Bachelor’s (BA or BS) in business, computer science, or related field
- 3-7 years of experience leading Agile projects as a product owner and/or product manager
- Agile Expertise: In-depth understanding of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and the ability to apply agile principles effectively
- Certification as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or related agile certifications can be valuable.
- Product Management Skills: Proficiency in product management, including defining product strategy, creating roadmaps, and managing product backlogs
- Strong business acumen to ensure the product aligns with organizational goals
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration between teams and communicate product vision and requirements effectively
- Strong collaborative interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership skills to guide and empower cross-functional teams in a self-organizing manner
- Proficiency working with JIRA, Confluence, CA Agile Central or similar product management tools
- A solid understanding of the technical aspects of product development to facilitate discussions and make informed decisions
