Assistant Finance Manager - Accounts Payable

Finance shared service centre for a multinational organization that is a global leader in its industry, having operations in over 100 countries.

about the job

This role is part of the Finance shared services and supports the business in Accounts Payable and reporting functions. The role provides diverse and varied work coverage due to its high volume environment.

  • Oversees the daily accounting activities and ensures accuracy.
  • Supervise and review the work of the accounting staff and guide the team to success.
  • Cash management and forecasting.
  • Maintains organized set of detailed records and files to document financial transactions.
  • Resolves complex accounting issues or assists other Authority personnel in resolving financial issues.
  • Reviews general ledger on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy of posting.
  • Coordinates monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities and ensures that all the costs related to the relevant period are booked
  • Tracking performance against various KPI’s and adherence to agreed SLA's.
  • Submission of analytics report to the management.
  • Ensure adequate controls are in place and authority matrix is followed for approvals.
  • Provide support during audit.
  • Supports management with the various analysis reports GRNI status / open PO / AP aging / month on month expense variance analysis.
  • Subject matter expert for continuous process improvement relating to the accounts payable process to ensure accuracy and minimal errors.
  • Be hands on in operations when required due to high volume of transactions or during close.


Skills and experience required

  • Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • A least 8 years of prior relevant work experience.
  • Experience in handling full set of accounts, reporting and recent experience in Accounts Payable.
  • Expert in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Experience of working with SAP would be a plus.
  • Effective communication skills, with a strong character to drive outcomes.
  • Effective leader who is able to guide and coach the team but at the same time able to get hands on in operations when required.
  • Initiative to review processes to work on process improvements.
  • Flexibility and able to react quickly to changing priorities and timelines
  • Takes responsibility and demonstrates ownership of issues
