about the company

Our client is a large-scale investment company focusing on equity, fixed income, and real estate investment.

about the job

Primary responsibility is on the overall investment performance and management of the Investment Departments and to work closely with the CEO and other members of the senior management to develop, recommend and implement policies, strategies, and initiatives.

  • Develops and recommends investment policies and strategies
  • Partners with the CEO to ensure the success of investment activities through regular reporting on the strategic direction of the investment program, progress toward strategic initiatives, investment performance, risk management, and compliance with policy and guidelines, and to keep the CEO apprised of the key investment activities.
  • Directs the identification, development, and implementation of strategies and initiatives to enhance investment performance and the investment process of the division.
  • Reviews and monitors investment performance. Works with direct reports to ensure timely and effective decision making, consistent with the policy.
  • Monitors asset allocation and implements re-balancing actions in accordance with the investment policy.
  • Reviews and monitors portfolio risk characteristics and compliance with investment guidelines.
  • Oversees all key day-to-day investment activities through direct reports.

about the manager/team

Reporting to the CEO and Advisory Board, you will be managing 6 department heads with more than 80 staff. The management style of the CEO is macro-management and believes in delivering results with minimal supervision. The team works well and has a good team spirit working under her.

skills & experience required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in business administration, economics, or finance, complemented by a master’s degree (a plus).
  • Local Malaysian with a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a family office, private investor, sovereign fund, and/or investment bank/company.
  • A proven track record of successful investment.
  • Superior understanding of all investment policies and guidelines, demonstrate excellent communication skills (written and verbal), and maintain a strong professional work ethic.
  • Demonstrated past success in working with the Owner/Board of Directors.
