About the company

This is a growing European MNC in the renewable energy sector. They are rapidly expanding and is currently looking for a Finance & Asset Manager for their Malaysian operations.

Reports to

  • Corporate functional reporting to SVP Financial Reporting & Tax and SVP Asset
  • Management (international reports)
  • Local reporting to Country Manager

Main purpose of position

  • ·Head of the finance department for local COMPANY companies (both the Operating*
  • ·Company and the Project** Companies)
  • ·Part of management group of the Operating Company
  • ·Act as the Project Companies’ General Manager vis-à-vis their respective Shareholders and all
  • ·third parties (where applicable)
  • ·Coordinate the work in the Service Agreements made between the Project Companies and
  • ·relevant COMPANY Companies;
  • ·Manage, monitor and execute all commercial, financial and compliance related tasks
  • ·Take a lead and coordinate all administrative tasks in cooperation with local HR Manager and
  • ·Office Administration Manager
  • ·Support all lines of business throughout the project value chain (development, construction
  • ·and operation & maintenance)- with all commercial, financial, tax,compliance and regulatory
  • incentive matters,
  • ·Take part in developing the business strategy and action plans to secure new opportunities
  • ·Project Company is the special purpose vehicle set up to own the PV power plants and producing
  • and selling electricity to the local utility or offtaker. Each project is set up in a separate legal entity.


  • Financial Management and Corporate Governance of Operating and Project Companies:
  • support and challenge the project development,project finance, construction and ultimatelyoperation & maintenance activities. In doing so the F&A Manager is expected to be a frontrunner in terms ofproactively identify business opportunities and risks, suggesting
  • actions in response to these as well as implementing the actions agreed in coordination with the local company management team. In particular during the first year pre and post start of production, the business environment
  • will be highly dynamic and especially demanding;
  • set up and lead the local Finance and Asset Management organization;
  • establish local ERP, payroll and tax reporting systems, ensure proper internal controls for all relevant finance, accounting and tax processes;
  • manage the processes to prepare invoices, monitor collection of revenues, handle the
  • incoming invoices, initiate payments (including payroll, taxes), propose operating cost reduction
  • initiatives;
  • liaise with the banks and establish procedures for bank transactions;
  • ensure adequate records and booksof accounts and prepare monthly management account
  • as well as interim and annual financial statements, liaise with the auditor;
  • manage any external accounting or tax service provider for as long as such is engaged;
  • be responsible for the COMPANY Group monthly IFRS reporting to the headquarters;
  • update periodic financial and cash budgets and the financial models, carry out the budget-to-actual analysis,
  • ensure overall compliance and issue compliance certificates to the Project Companies’
  • Lenders, offtakers and any other third parties requiring such certificates;
  • ensure that all direct, indirect and over-payroll tax returns are filed and all taxes, levies and
  • duties are timely and correctly paid,
  • ensure appropriate transfer pricing, handling of importation and customs issues and
  • reporting;
  • tax and financial modelling point of view

Formal educational background

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, preferably at Masters level
  • ACCA,CPA,MIA qualification.

Work experience

  • At least 5 years of managerial experience within the areas of financial management, project-
  • related asset management, project finance-related banking or advisory, corporate finance,
  • accounting or auditing;
  • Expertise in budgeting, IFRS and local GAAP accounting, internal controls, direct and indirect
  • taxes and duties, customs regulations;
  • Preferably experience in the renewable industry, real estate or infrastructure sectors;
  • Preferably experience with negotiation and administration of project finance-related
  • agreements;
  • Preferably experience with establishing subsidiaries, business start-ups or setting up a
  • finance department;
  • Advantage with corporate governance and board work experience;
  • High social and intercultural competence, able to coordinate and communicate with external
  • parties and to manage work of others;
  • Team player and able to work under pressure;
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
