Job Title: General Manager, Fund Management

Job Purpose:
- Lead the strategic planning, development, and management of the company’s fund management operations to maximize returns and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Drive the overall investment strategy, portfolio management, and fund performance in alignment with the company's financial objectives and risk appetite.
- Ensure effective management of the fund management team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and high ethical standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Fund Management Strategy: Develop and implement the company’s fund management strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall corporate goals and market opportunities.
- Investment Planning: Lead the creation and execution of long-term and short-term investment plans, focusing on asset allocation, risk management, and performance optimization.
- Market Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, advising senior management on potential impacts and strategic adjustments.
- Product Development: Oversee the development and launch of new fund products, ensuring they meet market demands, regulatory requirements, and the company’s strategic objectives.
Portfolio Management:
- Portfolio Oversight: Manage the company’s investment portfolios, ensuring that investment decisions align with the approved strategy, risk profile, and regulatory standards.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate the performance of all managed funds, implementing corrective actions where necessary to optimize returns and minimize risks.
- Risk Management: Establish and enforce robust risk management frameworks to protect the company’s assets and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Investment Committee: Lead the Investment Committee, providing expert guidance on investment decisions, portfolio adjustments, and risk management strategies.
Compliance and Governance:
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all fund management activities comply with local and international regulations, including those set by the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and Bursa Malaysia.
- Corporate Governance: Uphold the highest standards of corporate governance, transparency, and ethical conduct in all fund management operations.
- Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports to the Board of Directors, shareholders, and regulatory bodies, highlighting fund performance, market conditions, and strategic initiatives.
Team Leadership:
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop the fund management team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring the team possesses the necessary skills and knowledge to meet objectives.
- Talent Development: Identify and address training and development needs within the team, ensuring continuous professional growth and succession planning.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including finance, risk management, compliance, and legal, to ensure cohesive and efficient operations.
Client and Stakeholder Management:
- Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, investors, and stakeholders, providing them with clear and transparent communication on fund performance and strategies.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders, including regulators, auditors, and industry bodies, to ensure the company’s interests are represented and protected.
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow the company’s fund management division, including expanding into new markets or offering new products.
Impact and Accountability:
- Fund Performance: Achieve and exceed performance targets for all managed funds, contributing to the company’s overall profitability and growth.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain full compliance with all relevant regulations, ensuring no breaches or penalties that could impact the company’s reputation or operations.
- Client Satisfaction: Ensure high levels of client satisfaction, retaining existing clients and attracting new ones through excellent fund performance and service delivery.
Qualifications:
Education/Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, CFA) or professional certification in fund management, investment management, or a related field is highly preferred.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in fund management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of successful fund management, including strong portfolio performance and risk management.
- In-depth knowledge of the Malaysian financial market, including regulatory frameworks, market trends, and investment products.
- Experience in managing teams, developing talent, and driving organizational performance.
