Job Title: General Manager, Investment Asset Management

Job Purpose:
- Lead the strategic direction and management of the company’s investment asset management division, focusing on maximizing returns while managing risk and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the development and implementation of investment strategies that align with the company’s financial goals and risk appetite.
- Manage the asset management team to ensure high performance, innovation, and adherence to best practices and ethical standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Investment Strategy Development: Formulate and execute the company’s investment strategies, including asset allocation, portfolio diversification, and risk management, to achieve targeted financial returns.
- Market Analysis and Research: Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify investment opportunities, market trends, and risks, ensuring the company stays ahead of industry developments.
- Portfolio Management: Oversee the management of the company’s investment portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices.
- Product Development: Lead the development of new investment products and services that meet market demand and contribute to the company’s growth and profitability.
Portfolio and Risk Management:
- Asset Allocation: Manage the allocation of assets across various investment classes (e.g., equities, fixed income, real estate, etc.) to optimize returns while maintaining a balanced risk profile.
- Performance Monitoring: Regularly review and assess the performance of all investment portfolios, making adjustments as necessary to meet performance targets and mitigate risks.
- Risk Management: Develop and implement robust risk management frameworks, ensuring that all investment activities comply with the company’s risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
- Investment Committee Leadership: Chair or participate in the Investment Committee, providing strategic insights and guidance on investment decisions, portfolio adjustments, and risk management strategies.
Compliance and Governance:
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all investment activities comply with local and international regulations, including those set by the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and Bursa Malaysia.
- Corporate Governance: Uphold the highest standards of corporate governance, transparency, and ethical conduct in all investment management activities.
- Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive reports to the Board of Directors, shareholders, and regulatory bodies on investment performance, market conditions, and strategic initiatives.
Team Leadership:
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the asset management team, ensuring they have the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to excel in their roles.
- Talent Management: Identify and nurture high-potential employees, ensuring effective succession planning and career development within the team.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including finance, risk management, compliance, and legal, to ensure seamless and efficient operations across the organization.
Client and Stakeholder Management:
- Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, investors, and stakeholders, ensuring clear and transparent communication on investment performance and strategy.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders, including regulators, auditors, and industry bodies, to ensure the company’s interests are well-represented and protected.
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow the company’s investment asset management division, including expanding into new markets or offering new investment products.

Qualifications:
Education/Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, CFA) or professional certification in investment management, asset management, or a related field is highly preferred.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in investment management or asset management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of successful asset management, including strong portfolio performance and effective risk management.
- In-depth knowledge of the Malaysian financial market, including regulatory frameworks, market trends, and investment products.
- Experience in managing and developing high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
