Job Summary:
As a Group Manager, Health Underwriting, you will lead a dynamic team responsible for underwriting and managing group health insurance products and policies. Your primary focus will be to ensure that the team achieves target turnaround time (TAT) and accuracy levels, operates within the set loss ratio, and supports business units in achieving the target Gross Written Premium (GWP). You will play a critical role in guiding the team to meet service standards and in providing sales support to Business Units. This role also involves reviewing and approving underwriting pricing for new business, renewals, and Maxis GBN business. Furthermore, you will manage and implement new projects, contribute to product development, and collaborate with relevant parties for process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Underwriting: Perform underwriting for new and existing (renewal) group health insurance business, ensuring the accuracy and profitability of the portfolio.
Training: Assist in providing product and policy training to corporate clients, agents, and brokers at HQ and nationwide branches when required.
Risk Management: Manage portfolio risk to achieve profitable portfolio growth while maintaining quality underwriting standards.
Client Engagement: Conduct visits to corporate clients, brokers, and agencies when necessary to foster relationships and address underwriting concerns.
Policy Delivery: Ensure that policies and endorsements are delivered to clients within stipulated timeframes.
Claim Recovery: Oversee the close monitoring and management of Claim Recovery for Group Health Services (GHS) accounts.
Team Management: Lead and manage the Group Health team to achieve optimal customer service by maintaining underwriting TAT and accuracy targets. Efficiently allocate resources to meet objectives.
Product and System Development: Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop and enhance insurance products and systems.
Process Improvement: Work with cross-functional teams, including Claims, Third-Party Administrators (TPA), Actuarial, and Business Units, to identify and implement process improvements.
TPA Liaison: Liaise with Third-Party Administrators (TPA) on underwriting matters and hospital admissions.
Sales Campaigns: Assist the Group Health team in implementing and monitoring sales campaigns to achieve business goals.
Special Projects: Undertake special projects or assignments as needed, such as Business Continuity Planning (BCP) exercises and organizing company events.
Qualification and Experience Requirements:
Education: University/College graduate with a minimum of 4 years of related working experience in the insurance industry. Actuarial or Statistical background or Group Business Underwriting experience is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 4 years' experience in a similar role or capacity. Experience in Group Business Underwriting is preferred. Must have experience in managing a team.
