About The Role

You will be responsible for providing guidance to business when it comes to advising and interpreting policies and controls related to Market Risk. The employer is looking for a Market Risk Professional that possess excellent communication, strong leadership qualities and people's skill to support the strategic expansion business mainly focused in Market Risk. You will be reporting straight to Chief Risk Officer.


  • To lead and be accountable for the planning, managing & to oversee the overall day-to-day management of the Department towards effectively measuring and managing the Bank’s market risk exposures and increasing operational efficiency & process improvement.
  • To lead and be accountable for the review & enhancement of policies & guidelines pertaining to market risk management, which includes asset-liability management, liquidity risk management & trading risk management.
  • To lead and be accountable for the review & enhancement of risk control tools & methodologies pertaining to market risk management, align risk appetite & strategy through better evaluation of risk/reward profiles.
  • To lead the implementation and enhancement of market risk systems, i.e. Quantum/QRisk System and Asset-Liability Management Systems.
  • To supervise the preparation and analysis of all market risk reports within the stipulated time frame & error free and to ensure that all MAT/limits exceptions are escalated within the stipulated time frame.
  • To supervise the preparation and analysis of reports to ALCO, MRCC & BRC, within the stipulated time frame & error free and to present to relevant Committees as requested by the CRO.
  • To lead and be accountable for the assessment of new products in line with the Bank’s new product guidelines.
  • To review regulatory reporting requirements as required by Finance Division and/or any other divisions, within the stipulated time frame & error free.
  • To assist in matters involving the Department when queried by BNM, PIDM, internal/external audits as well as from other Divisions within Bank Islam.
  • To perform industry, competitors & market analysis, in order to gauge the Bank’s standing & performance relative to the identified benchmark.
  • To provide guidance & leadership to the market risk team through (not limited to) knowledge sharing to deepen the qualitative & quantitative analytic aspect of market risk management.
  • To lead, manage & drive a highly competent & motivated staff to provide excellent service quality at all times.
  • To provide expert advice in matters pertaining market risk to the business & support units within the Bank.
  • To be accountable for Department’s overall audit performance & compliance with the Bank’s policy, standards & procedures & other regulatory requirements.
  • To perform any other duties/assignment as and when directed/assigned by the CRO from time to time as per business requirements.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in quantitative (e.g. statistics, mathematics, economics, accounting, actuarial science, Finance) discipline from a reputable & recognized university
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant working experienceProficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
  • Deep understanding of all financial instruments.
  • Quantitative modeling skills (including valuation of financial instruments/derivatives)
  • Effective communication / interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated & self-starter with positive attitude & able to work under pressure.
  • Able to work in a team as well as independently with minimum supervision.
  • Resourceful & adaptable in a changing environment, proactive in resolving issues.
