Job Title: Head of Fund Management

Job Purpose:
- Lead the fund management division, driving the strategic planning, development, and execution of investment strategies to maximize returns for the company’s funds.
- Ensure that the company’s fund management activities are aligned with corporate objectives, comply with regulatory requirements, and meet the expectations of investors and stakeholders.
- Build and manage a high-performing fund management team, promoting a culture of excellence, innovation, and adherence to the highest ethical standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Fund Management Strategy: Develop and implement the overall strategy for the company’s fund management operations, focusing on asset allocation, portfolio diversification, and risk management to achieve targeted financial outcomes.
- Investment Planning: Lead the formulation and execution of investment plans, ensuring alignment with the company’s long-term goals, market opportunities, and regulatory frameworks.
- Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify investment opportunities, assess risks, and provide strategic recommendations to senior management and the Board.
- Product Development: Oversee the development of new fund products and services, ensuring they are competitive, compliant, and aligned with market demands and investor needs.
Portfolio Management:
- Portfolio Oversight: Manage the company’s investment portfolios, ensuring that investment decisions are consistent with the approved strategy, risk tolerance, and regulatory requirements.
- Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor and assess the performance of all managed funds, implementing necessary adjustments to optimize returns and minimize risks.
- Risk Management: Develop and enforce robust risk management frameworks, ensuring that all fund management activities adhere to the company’s risk appetite and regulatory standards.
- Investment Committee Leadership: Chair or actively participate in the Investment Committee, providing expert guidance on portfolio management, investment decisions, and risk mitigation strategies.
Compliance and Governance:
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all fund management activities comply with local and international regulations, including guidelines set by the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and Bursa Malaysia.
- Corporate Governance: Uphold the highest standards of corporate governance, ensuring transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct in all fund management operations.
- Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive reports to the Board of Directors, shareholders, and regulatory authorities, detailing fund performance, market conditions, and strategic initiatives.
Team Leadership:
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the fund management team, ensuring that all members possess the necessary skills, knowledge, and motivation to achieve the division’s objectives.
- Talent Management: Identify and nurture high-potential team members, ensuring effective succession planning and continuous professional development within the division.
- Collaboration: Foster strong collaboration between the fund management team and other departments, such as finance, compliance, risk management, and legal, to ensure cohesive and efficient operations.
Client and Stakeholder Management:
- Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, investors, and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and transparency regarding fund performance and strategies.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Actively engage with key stakeholders, including regulators, auditors, and industry bodies, to represent the company’s interests and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow the company’s fund management division, including expanding into new markets and developing new investment products.
Impact and Accountability:
- Fund Performance: Achieve and exceed performance targets for all managed funds, contributing significantly to the company’s profitability and market standing.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain full compliance with all relevant regulations, avoiding breaches and penalties that could negatively impact the company’s reputation and operations.

Qualifications:
Education/Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, CFA) or professional certification in investment management, fund management, or a related field is highly preferred.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in fund management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the financial services industry.
- Proven track record of successful fund management, with strong portfolio performance and effective risk management.
- Deep understanding of the Malaysian financial market, including regulatory frameworks, market trends, and investment products.
- Experience in managing and developing high-performing teams in a dynamic environment.
