about the job
Our client is currently looking for a Head of Risk and Compliance, directly reporting to the CEO. This role expects you to:
Oversees the implementation of Compliance & Risk plan, by performing compliance and risk assessments to guide the organisation business development in all relevant areas in meeting the regulatory requirements. Support and assist Management in meeting compliance requirements of local rules, regulations, as well as Group policies and internal policies. Amongst others implementing measures to adhere to Financial Services Act 2013, Personal Data Protection Act, AMLA 2001 and relevant regulatory guidelines issued.
- Ensure effective implementation of compliance programme within the company
- Oversee assurance exercise and reviews or audits periodically to ensure that compliance procedures are followed
- Create awareness, educate and train employees on regulatory requirements to avoid regulatory non-compliance and severe penalties
- Evaluate business activities related to e-money business operations, to identify and evaluate potential compliance risk and other operational risks
- Ensure effective enterprise risk management that includes business continuity, crisis management and corporate risk planning
- Establish effective plans to manage and mitigate crisis or compliance violation
- Ensure effective implementation of fraud management procedures to combat internal and external fraudulent activities
- Prepare regulatory reports to management and regulators
- Discuss arising compliance issues with Management or employees
- Ensure and verify that all regulatory policies and procedures have been documented and implemented via assurance exercise
- Become liaison officer for communication with regulators and law enforcement agencies
- Utilize data and technology, with application of latest regulatory technology solutions to look at compliance process improvement, automation of fraud monitoring parameters using machine learning tools and AI.

- You will be reporting to the CEO, who is extremely helpful in providing guidance and believes in achieving fixed results in a timely manner
skills & experience required
- Must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Finance/Accountancy/Banking, Business Studies/Administration/Management or equivalent
- Professional certification shall be an added advantage
- At least 10 years working experiences in Financial Institutions
- Strong understanding in regulatory matters including Acts and Guidelines
- Experience in engaging with regulators (e.g. Bank Negara, Security Commissions etc) and maintain good rapport. Past experience working in BNM to develop financial policy documents, setup of digital sandbox for fintech is an added bonus
- Diligent and attentive to details in delivering high quality of output
- Able to recommend pragmatic approach for problem solving
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate, articulate and negotiate with various stakeholders
- Good teamwork and ability to manage and motivate the team members in highly challenging working environment
- Past experience in utilizing regulatory technology solutions to automate compliance process and fraud monitoring
- Past experience in data analytics domain, able to apply critical thinking to generate insights from data and trends to identify patterns and able to work with powerpoint, excel and/or spreadsheet models with ability to create data visualization in charts, tables and graphs for compliance discussion with stakeholders.
