Job Summary:
As a Manager, Individual Health Underwriting, your primary responsibility is to support the Individual Health team in achieving target turnaround time (TAT) and accuracy levels, ensuring daily operations meet service standards, and assisting in achieving target Gross Written Premium (GWP). You will be responsible for underwriting individual health insurance business and providing sales support to Business Units. Additionally, you will be involved in the implementation and monitoring of projects and new products.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy Support: Assist in developing and executing strategies and management decisions to achieve department goals.
Business Underwriting: Perform underwriting for new and existing (renewal) individual health insurance business, ensuring accuracy and profitability.
Training: Provide product and policy training to internal stakeholders, helping them understand the nuances of individual health underwriting.
Risk Management: Manage portfolio risk to ensure profitable portfolio growth while maintaining underwriting standards.
Collaboration: Liaise with business units and support departments to facilitate the underwriting process and resolve issues.
Policy Handling: Ensure that individual health insurance policies and endorsements are underwritten and responded to within stipulated timeframes.
Reporting and Review: Regularly report on production and claims, conducting business reviews to assess performance.
Team Development: Train and develop junior team members to prepare for business expansion.
Team Management: Assist in managing resources to achieve optimal customer service by ensuring the team meets underwriting TAT and accuracy targets.
Special Projects: Participate in special projects or assignments, such as Business Continuity Planning (BCP) exercises and organizing company events.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with local regulations, statutory regulations, and company policies and procedures.
Information System Security: Responsible for defining information security requirements, ensuring information availability, confidentiality, and integrity. Collaborate with the Information System Security Manager to adhere to security standards.
Data Privacy: Ensure compliance with Data Privacy laws, regulations, policies, standards, processes, and procedures implemented by the company.
Qualification and Experience Requirements:
Education: Diploma or Degree in any field or related professional certificates, e.g., AMII, CII, CMII, DMCII, or equivalent insurance qualification.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience in underwriting or a similar role or capacity. Knowledge of the general insurance industry is essential.
