about the job
- involves participation in the critical clearing and settlement system for the Derivatives market, encompassing a C-based backend and a Java-based frontend (JBoss EAP, Spring).
- assisting the VP as Assistant Vice President (AVP) who also functions as the technical lead for the team.
- collaborates closely with business users, business analysts, the QA automation team, and vendors.
- review vendor-delivered design, solutions, and code as well as undertaking Level 3 production support to swiftly resolve and restore production during incidents.
- attend to production incidents as Level 3 support when necessary, with off-hours support rotated among the team members.
- able to work on Friday evenings on production deployment due to the sensitivity of trading hours. Exceptionally, significant production deployments such as major upgrades or industry-wide BCPs are scheduled for Saturdays, strictly on a need basis.
knowledge, skills and experience
- bachelor's degree, postgraduate diploma, or a professional degree in computer science, information technology, or an equivalent field.
- possess a minimum of 8 years of cumulative IT experience.
- proficiency in C is essential, along with experience in large-scale Linux applications.
- additional experience in Java and web programming (JQuery, Javascript, HTML) is highly advantageous.
- proficiency in Linux, coupled with fundamental shell scripting skills, is required.
- readiness to grasp domain knowledge of the derivatives market, clearing, and settlement processes is expected.
- a track record of optimizing application performance for high throughput.
- maturity and the ability to function effectively under pressure, given the critical nature of the system and its requirement for uninterrupted operation within tight project schedules.
- adherence to policies and processes, encompassing technical documentation and change control board protocols, is a prerequisite due to the highly regulated environment.
- hands-on involvement and is an individual contributor position.
