As the Senior Employment Counsel, you will play a critical role in ensuring our company complies with all employment laws and regulations. You will provide legal advice, counsel, and support to the organisation on a wide range of employment matters, including but not limited to, employment contracts, industrial relations, and workplace policies.

Legal Compliance, to keep
up-to-date with employment laws and regulations, ensuring the company's policies and practices are compliant
Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, enterprise agreements, and workplace agreements in accordance with the law
Provide guidance on terms and conditions of employment, remuneration, and benefits
Manage and provide guidance on industrial relations issues, including disputes, negotiations, and conciliation
Ensure compliance with industrial awards and enterprise agreements
Handle employment-related disputes and investigations, including unfair dismissals and workplace grievances.
Develop strategies for dispute resolution, including Fair Work Commission proceedings if necessary.
Offer advice and counsel to HR and management on employee relations issues, including disciplinary processes, terminations, and accommodations.
Assist in developing and implementing workplace policies and procedures in accordance with labour laws with a focus in the Australian market.
Provide legal training to HR and management teams to enhance compliance and minimise legal risks
Review and approve HR actions for legal compliance, such as terminations, redundancies, and disciplinary actions.

about the requirements

Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from an accredited law school
Ideally 8 years of experience within employment & labour law
Knowledge and familiarity in dealing with Australian employment laws is an added advantage
Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Business acumen and the ability to align legal advice with the company's goals.
Previous experience working with industrial relations and a diverse workforce is a plus.
