Job Title: Senior Manager, Finance
Location: Malaysia
Job Purpose:
- To lead and manage the finance function for the company, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, implementing effective financial controls, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company’s growth and operational objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
- Finance Team Leadership: Provide leadership to the finance team, building capability and fostering a proactive culture of compliance, teamwork, and effectiveness. Ensure that the finance team adds value as business partners across the company.
- Team Development: Nurture a focused, team-oriented, and effective finance team. Promote professional development and ensure continuous improvement within the team.
Financial Management and Reporting:
- Financial Reporting: Ensure the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts, quarterly financial statements, and other regulatory reports. Oversee the implementation of reporting systems, policies, and procedures.
- Internal Controls: Formulate and implement internal controls and group policies, including standard operating procedures for reporting and governance, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Manage strategic and financial planning activities, including budget formulation, tracking, cash flow forecasting, and projections. Ensure proper processes are in place for accurate forecasting of sales, costs, working capital, and return on investments.
- AR & AP Management: Control accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) processes, including cash collections and payments to suppliers.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax requirements, including SST/GST returns, and oversee tax planning and compliance activities.
Strategic Financial Support:
- Business Partnering: Work closely with business leaders to provide financial counsel, support decision-making, and conduct in-depth financial and operational analysis, including investment strategies, funding, and corporate exercises.
- Corporate Exercises: Participate in corporate exercises such as acquisitions and disposals, including due diligence, feasibility studies, and impact assessments.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders to provide accurate and meaningful financial information, interpretive guidance, and standard reporting. Guide the team on regulatory financial compliance and ethics.
Compliance and Governance:
- Audit and Regulatory Compliance: Manage the timely completion of external audits, guide the resolution of audit issues, and present findings to the Board of Directors. Attend to requests from regulators for information or justification from the finance perspective.
- Governance Framework: Enforce and promote proper compliance and control frameworks, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Process Improvement and Innovation:
- Process Enhancement: Drive business financial performance and cost improvement initiatives. Implement and maximize the use of cloud-based accounting software and systems to improve the effectiveness of the company’s financial operations.
- Technology Utilization: Ensure the effective utilization of online and remote working systems and applications to enhance operational efficiency.
Other Responsibilities:
- Project Involvement: Participate in mergers & acquisitions and other business expansion strategies/plans. Undertake assigned projects, tasks, or assignments as directed by the Financial Controller/CFO.
- Continuous Improvement: Keep abreast of accounting standards, economic and industry trends, and update senior management on developments and their potential impact.
Work Experience & Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A professional qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is an advantage.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in finance and accounting within a public listed company (PLC) environment, with demonstrable supervisory experience.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of accounting principles, including accrual accounting, reconciliations, and complex financial analysis. Proficiency in using G-Suite Applications and online communication and performance tracking tools.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, negotiation, and strategic planning skills, with the ability to provide financial insights and recommendations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
- Leadership: Demonstrates strong leadership capabilities, with experience in managing people and promoting a culture of compliance and high performance.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze situations, take corrective actions, and make informed decisions. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
