about the role

Following further contract awards our client is actively seeking to recruit a professional and career minded Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their highly skilled Tunnelling and Underground Infrastructure team, based at their regional HQ in Malaysia

The role will see you working on a variety of project from around the globe and will offer you significant opportunities for skills and career development across a range of ground engineering and geotechnical aspects of projects.

  • Detailed design and analysis
  • Project management from feasibility to detailed design, including all technical, programme and cost monitoring
  • Ensuring that design, assessments and checking of designs are in accordance with the current Standards, Codes of Practice and Best Practice
  • Approval of designs, assessments and calculations in accordance with quality procedures
  • Preparation of risk assessments
  • Coordination of work undertaken by external sub-contractors and design checkers
  • Mentoring junior engineers and developing their technical skills

about the manager / team

The reporting manager is a hands on person who has been in the industry for a significant amount of time. Style of the manager is autonomous, macro-management and believes in delivering results with minimal supervision. The team operates in a high performance environment and thrives under the management style.


  • You must have a degree in Civil Engineering together with a Master's degree in either Engineering Geology / Geotechnical Engineering
  • Ideally you will be chartered (CGeol or CEng) or nearing chartered status
  • You must have experience working in a design environment with an appreciation of soil / structure interaction
  • You will have experience both on site and in the design office is preferred with experience in the rail and/or tunnelling sectors would be advantageous
  • You must possess excellent reporting and communication skills in both personal and written form
  • You must be able to manage your own time; other engineers and technicians
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
