about the job

Reporting to the Head of Accounting, you will be leading the AP & AR functions, with main responsibilities below:

  • Ensuring that appropriate AP & AR processes, controls, policies and procedures are in place and comply with relevant standards
  • Lead assigned AP & AR teams and matrix RTR team in spotting and resolving recurring performance problems and in initiating improvement activities
  • Resolution of delivery problems and dealing with complex client questions that your team members cannot resolve themselves
  • Timely and proper escalation to the Head and business controllers problems that reach beyond the scope of AP & AR activities
  • Ensuring that levels of productivity and quality for the AP & AR process area continuously improve
  • Providing visible leadership to the AP & AR teams, promoting the desired culture and ensuring that required levels of performance are achieved
  • Lead improvement initiatives as driven by Regional office or the other project offices as agreed with shared services management
  • Drive end to end process and business solutions, having strategic view point leveraging local business and finance personnel as well as AR and AP team members who matrix report to you
  • Organizing and contributing to periodic meetings with AP & AR Assistant Managers and Team Leaders and participating in meetings with other stakeholders
  • Planning development opportunities and career goals of team members with the ultimate goal of developing and retaining employees
  • Actively undertaking activities to increase own competency portfolio in order to ensure continued effective service delivery within the centre.

skills and experience required

  • Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent professional qualification
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant accounting experience in Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable process
  • Experience in managing, training and developing a large team is required.
  • Experience in a Shared Service environment will be an added advantage, with exposure to change management, multicultural environment, migration, continuous improvement and automation projects.
  • SAP experience is mandatory, with implementation experience.
  • Technically strong in accounting and able to attend to details
  • Work well under pressure to ensure timelines are met in accordance to the SLAs.
