Role Purpose:
The Director will oversee and lead the Tax Compliance and Advisory division, providing strategic leadership, team management, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality tax services. The role involves driving business development efforts, managing client relationships, and ensuring compliance with local and international tax regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
- Define and execute the division’s strategy in alignment with the firm’s overall objectives and goals.
- Develop business growth plans to expand the division’s client portfolio and increase revenue streams.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory developments to ensure the firm’s service offerings remain competitive and compliant.
2. Tax Compliance Management:
- Oversee the delivery of tax compliance services, ensuring the timely and accurate filing of tax returns and reports.
- Ensure full compliance with Malaysian tax laws and international tax standards, including transfer pricing and tax reporting obligations.
- Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency and mitigate potential risks.
3. Tax Advisory Services:
- Provide technical guidance on complex tax matters, including cross-border tax planning, tax incentives, and corporate restructuring strategies.
- Manage high-value tax advisory projects, ensuring successful delivery within scope, timeline, and budget.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, offering strategic tax planning and compliance advice to clients on complex matters.
4. Client Relationship Management:
- Build and nurture strong relationships with key clients, ensuring satisfaction, loyalty, and retention.
- Act as the primary point of contact for high-profile clients and large-scale engagements.
- Collaborate across the firm’s divisions to deliver integrated, multi-disciplinary solutions to clients.
5. Team Leadership and Development:
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals across both compliance and advisory functions.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous professional growth.
- Ensure the team is consistently trained and updated on the latest regulatory changes and industry best practices.
6. Financial and Operational Oversight:
- Set and achieve revenue, profitability, and operational efficiency targets for the division.
- Monitor and manage the division’s budgets, costs, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Lead improvements in client billing and collection processes to ensure financial efficiency.
7. Business Development:
- Identify and actively pursue new business opportunities within the tax compliance and advisory space.
- Represent the firm at industry events, seminars, and conferences to enhance brand visibility and establish new client relationships.
- Prepare and deliver proposals to potential clients, showcasing the firm’s value proposition and expertise.
Key Requirements:
Education and Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, CA, or CTIM are highly desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum 12–15 years of experience in tax compliance and advisory services, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record in managing a tax division, including profit and loss (P&L) responsibility.
- Extensive knowledge of Malaysian tax laws, transfer pricing regulations, and international tax principles.
- Experience in managing high-level client relationships and business development.
