job description

about our client

our client is a thriving pharmaceutical/ manufacturing MNC hub, looking for a Group Tax Director .

about the role

  • Responsible to lead tax planning for the group and provide recommendations;
  • Responsible to handle and manage tax incentives in Malaysia
  • Responsible to optimize tax efficiency within the tax laws and regulations frameworks
  • Establish the transfer pricing policy and the pricing for the group to ensure compliance with various tax jurisdictions
  • Review tax computations and tax returns in multiple countries to ensure accuracy in the tax computations and tax returns
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all corporate tax, VAT & GST returns of all entities and manage tax compliance
  • Ensuring tax advisors have met expectations and are meeting the deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Advice commercial, finance and legal departments on indirect tax such as GST/VAT, service tax etc.
  • Ensure compliance with Malaysia income tax law by reviewing and managing tax estimate for Malaysia entities
  • Liaise with tax authorities and manage tax audit and investigation
  • Act as the SME for all tax matters, locally and regionally
  • Work closely with the financial reporting team to substantiate deferred tax asset and review the tax disclosure in the financial statements
  • Responsible for ad hoc projects and tasks

your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting, or professional qualification in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in tax related roles
  • Experienced working in a MNC organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of international tax laws such as PE, beneficial ownership, recent development in BEPS, Country-by-Country Reporting, withholding tax and tax treaties
  • Strong knowledge in transfer pricing and corporate tax in multiple countries within SEA, South Asia, Europe and Central America
  • Possess knowledge in new accounting standards
  • Ability to work independently
