Role Purpose:
The Director will lead the Transfer Pricing (TP) division, overseeing TP compliance, advisory services, audits, and investigations. This role combines deep technical expertise, strategic leadership, and business development skills to drive high-quality service delivery while ensuring full compliance with both local and international transfer pricing regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
- Define and implement the strategic direction for the Transfer Pricing division in alignment with the firm’s global objectives.
- Develop and execute business plans to expand the TP service portfolio and drive sustainable revenue growth.
- Stay informed on regulatory developments and industry trends to ensure the division’s services remain competitive and compliant with evolving TP regulations.
2. Transfer Pricing Compliance:
- Oversee the preparation and review of Transfer Pricing Documentation (TPD) reports, ensuring compliance with both Malaysian and international TP regulations.
- Establish robust processes to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery of TP compliance services.
- Manage interactions with tax authorities during routine compliance checks, audits, and queries.
3. Transfer Pricing Audit and Investigations:
- Lead TP audits and manage interactions with tax authorities during investigations.
- Develop and execute strategies to address TP-related disputes and mitigate risks to clients.
- Provide expert guidance on responding to tax authority challenges, including preparing defense files and managing negotiations.
4. Transfer Pricing Advisory:
- Advise clients on complex TP matters, including policy setting, benchmarking studies, and intra-group pricing arrangements.
- Assist clients with TP implications arising from corporate restructuring, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), supply chain management, and business model optimization.
- Conduct economic and financial analyses to support advisory projects and ensure alignment with local and international TP guidelines.
5. Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor on all TP-related matters.
- Serve as the key point of contact for high-profile clients and complex engagements.
- Collaborate with other divisions to provide comprehensive solutions to clients' tax and business needs.
6. Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of TP professionals across compliance, advisory, and audit functions.
- Cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous professional growth within the TP division.
- Ensure the team remains updated on regulatory changes, industry trends, and best practices through ongoing training and development programs.
7. Financial and Operational Oversight:
- Set and achieve division revenue, profitability, and operational efficiency targets.
- Monitor and manage division budgets, costs, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Lead efforts to streamline operational processes and improve client billing/collections.
8. Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the TP compliance and advisory space.
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and seminars to enhance brand visibility and network with potential clients.
- Prepare and deliver compelling proposals to potential clients, showcasing the firm’s expertise and value proposition in transfer pricing services.
Key Requirements:
Education and Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, CA, CTIM, or CFA are highly desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum 12-15 years of experience in transfer pricing, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Extensive knowledge of Malaysian and international transfer pricing regulations, including OECD Guidelines and BEPS (Base Erosion and Profit Shifting) initiatives.
- Proven track record in managing TP audits, investigations, and delivering complex advisory projects.
