To support their expanding footprint across utility, private, and international markets, they are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead their Medium Voltage Switchgear Protection team.
Position Summary
As the Design Manager (Secondary Protection & Control), you will play a critical role in leading and developing a high-performing team of electrical engineers. Reporting directly to the Deputy General Manager - Technical, you will oversee end-to-end schematic designs, lead technical localization initiatives, and manage high-stakes switchgear protection projects for global and local clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering & Design Leadership: Lead the Secondary Design protection and control team for Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear, driving high quality, innovation, and adherence to international industry standards.
- Project Oversight: Manage and review complex design schematic drawings across major utility, private infrastructure, and overseas projects, ensuring seamless technical coordination.
- Technology Localization: Deliver advanced technical services to facilitate the localization and integration of global product lines into local and regional manufacturing operations.
- Technical Problem Solving: Act as the final technical authority on-site and off-site for critical troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and product defect resolution.
- Site Support & Client Relations: Provide expert technical support to fulfill requirements for both internal business units and high-profile external clients.
- Talent Development & Management: Mentor, coach, and review the work of design engineers, identifying skill gaps, conducting training, and driving team competence and career growth.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power stream strongly preferred).
- Experience: 8–10 years of dedicated working experience in the secondary design of medium-voltage (MV) switchgears.
- Leadership Track Record: Proven experience leading and mentoring design engineering teams while simultaneously managing multiple complex projects.
- Technical Mastery: Deep hands-on knowledge in medium-voltage protection systems, secondary design schematics, control systems, and relays.
