Job Summary
The Equipment & Hardware Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, optimization, and continuous improvement of production and test equipment to ensure high levels of availability, performance, reliability, and safety. This role involves close collaboration with OSAT partners worldwide to support manufacturing operations effectively.
The engineer works cross-functionally with Production, Process, Quality, and Vendor teams to achieve manufacturing goals, drive equipment performance improvements, and minimize downtime. A key focus is on enhancing operational efficiency, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and implementing best practices in equipment management.
Responsibilities
Equipment, Operation & Maintenance
Install, qualify, and commission new equipment according to specifications and safety standards.
Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) to ensure maximum tool uptime.
Troubleshoot equipment failures and production issues, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and software-related faults.
Maintain accurate equipment documentation, logs, PM checklists, and spare parts records.
Equipment Performance & Improvement
Monitor equipment performance indicators (uptime, MTBF, MTTR, Utilization).
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime, scrap, and maintenance costs.
Identify recurring issues and implement permanent corrective actions (RCCA).
Support equipment capacity planning and utilization improvement.
Process & Production Support
Support daily production and test operations to meet output, quality, and cycle-time targets.
Work with Process Engineers to optimize equipment settings and process stability.
Assist in root cause analysis for yield, quality, and reliability issues.
Support engineering trials, new product introduction (NPI), and qualification runs.
Vendor & Project Coordination
Liaise with equipment vendors for installation, upgrades, repairs, and technical support.
Manage spare parts availability and vendor service contracts.
Support factory expansion, tool transfer, or relocation projects.
Participate in equipment audits and acceptance testing.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, or equivalent.
Experience
Minimum 10+ years of experience in equipment engineering, maintenance, or manufacturing engineering.
Proven experience in the semiconductor industry, particularly in final test operations and automation systems.
