the role: hvac energy efficiency engineer (mid to senior level).
the reporting line: the successful candidate will work directly with the ceo with no hierarchy or buffer.
core responsibilities: * this position splits time across site assessments, pre-sales technical support, and project delivery.
the engineer will spend time out on client sites, identifying energy-saving opportunities, and building company credibility.
contributing directly to proposals and commercial/business conversations is a key part of the role.
the primary goal is to master site assessments quickly and materially reduce the ceo's technical workload within the first year.
what this role is not: this is not a back-office design job, a narrow corporate role, or a routine facilities maintenance position.
the package: our client offers an above-market base salary, regional travel exposure, and a strong results-based incentive structure tied to project contributions.

1. experience & technical skills

background: 8+ years of total experience in energy efficiency, building services engineering, hvac/chiller plants, or technical facilities management.
technical hands-on capability: solid experience working directly with chiller plants, hvac systems, or building management systems (bms).
proven track record: candidates must be able to share a specific project where they successfully identified and delivered real energy efficiency improvements.

2. soft skills & mindset

client-facing confidence: comfortable engaging directly with clients, contractors, and senior stakeholders.
communication: an ability to clearly explain complex technical findings to non-technical clients.
startup agility: solution-oriented, self-directed, and genuinely comfortable with ambiguity, fast pace, and figuring things out on the go.
business curiosity: candidates should be genuinely interested in the commercial and financial side of projects, not just the pure engineering.

3. practical details

location: based in kuala lumpur or singapore and comfortable working in the office.
travel: open to regional travel across southeast asia (including malaysia, singapore, indonesia, thailand, philippines, and brunei).
