about the company
Randstad is exclusively partnering with a highly established, stable boutique audit and accounting firm based in Malaysia. Known for its long-standing client relationships and highly predictable working environment, our client specializes in delivering routine statutory audit and tax services to a loyal portfolio of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Unlike larger corporate practices focused on aggressive scaling and tight turnarounds, this firm prides itself on maintaining a steady, manageable workload. They are currently seeking a highly capable Audit Manager to oversee their dedicated audit division.
The Role
...
This opportunity is explicitly designed for an experienced audit professional who is looking to step away from the grueling hours, high-pressure deadlines, and timesheet stress of larger public accounting firms.
If you are seeking a much slower, stable pace where you can comfortably utilize your deep external audit expertise without the threat of burnout, this is the perfect platform for you. You will enjoy leading a close-knit, established team of 7 professionals, maintaining quality standards, and servicing a predictable SME portfolio with true work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Steady Practice Management: Oversee and manage a stable audit division of 7 team members, providing gentle guidance, mentorship, and review of their day-to-day work.
- Audit Engagement Oversight: Review statutory audit engagements for a familiar portfolio of SME clients, ensuring compliance with MPERS and International Standards on Auditing (ISA) at a manageable pace.
- Client Relationship Maintenance: Serve as the primary, trusted point of contact for long-standing SME business owners, addressing basic technical accounting queries and maintaining strong rapport.
- Quality Control: Ensure all audit files and financial statements meet firm standards and statutory regulatory requirements before final partner sign-off.
- Workflow Management: Manage audit timelines and workflow scheduling with a focus on ensuring smooth, stress-free project delivery without the need for unnecessary overtime.
Key Requirements
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, MIA, MICPA) is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum 5 to 7 years of solid external audit experience, with proven exposure to handling SME audit portfolios. Prior experience supervising junior audit staff is required.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong, practical working knowledge of MPERS (Malaysian Private Entities Reporting Standard) and standard Malaysian statutory regulations.
- Mindset & Approach: You are not looking for a high-octane, aggressively growing corporate ladder. Instead, you are a patient, approachable leader who wants a stable environment to apply your expertise, coach a small team, and go home on time.
Why Apply?
- True Work-Life Balance: Enjoy a genuinely slower pace, manageable working hours, and a highly predictable audit cycle.
- No Aggressive Growth KPIs: Focus purely on quality, team mentorship, and maintaining existing client satisfaction rather than chasing aggressive business development targets.
- Supportive Environment: Join a tight-knit, family-friendly firm where stability and employee well-being are the top priorities.
