Role Summary
The Automation Engineer is tasked with driving smart manufacturing initiatives by building and maintaining factory automation systems. The primary focus is maximizing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), improving machine reliability, and minimizing unscheduled downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Automation System Design: Design, develop, and deploy automation solutions tailored for production machinery and manufacturing processes.
- Control Systems Programming: Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, servo drives, frequency inverters, and industrial control architectures.
- Smart Tech Integration: Integrate industrial sensors, machine vision systems, robotics, and IoT devices into production lines.
- Equipment Reliability & Downtime Reduction: Analyze machine failures to implement robust corrective and preventive actions that boost cycle times and efficiency.
- Commissioning & Validation: Support new machinery installation, technical commissioning, line validation, and production start-up phases.
- Compliance & Technical Documentation: Develop electrical drawings, control logic documentation, and technical manuals while adhering strictly to safety and regulatory standards.
Engineering Authority
- Propose and recommend automation upgrades and process optimization initiatives.
- Modify PLC and HMI programming logic following established engineering change procedures.
- Halt equipment operations immediately if unsafe automation or electrical conditions are detected.
- Direct external automation vendors and contractors during systems installation and complex maintenance.
Requirements & Technical Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years in industrial automation within a manufacturing setting (Fresh graduates possessing exceptional PLC and control systems knowledge will also be evaluated).
- System Expertise: Hands-on experience with automated production lines, automated control loops, and industrial communications.
