about the company
Randstad is exclusively partnering with a premier, globally recognized professional services and advisory network. To support their expansive growth, they are establishing a brand-new, regional Financial Advisory Delivery Platform (Centre of Excellence) in Kuala Lumpur.
This platform will serve member firms across 15 APAC countries, with an initial strategic focus on Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, and Singapore. As the first critical hire for this initiative, they are seeking an exceptional Associate Director or Director to build and spearhead the platform’s foundational Valuations service line.
about the role
...
This is a high-profile, "greenfield" leadership opportunity. You will be responsible for setting up the Valuations team, designing the operating model, and establishing the quality framework from scratch.
Notably, Business Development is not part of this role. Your undivided focus will be on operational excellence, team capability building, and collaborating closely with country teams to support engagement structuring, scope definitions, and client discussions. For the successful candidate who demonstrates exceptional leadership and delivery capabilities, there is a distinct and considered track to Partnership.
Key Responsibilities
- Practice Establishment: Establish, structure, and lead the Valuations practice within the new Kuala Lumpur Financial Advisory Delivery Platform.
- Team Leadership & Capability Building: Recruit, manage, and mentor a brand-new team of 5 to 8 professionals within the first year. Take full ownership of their training, career pathing, retention, and overall quality of work.
- Cross-Border Delivery: Liaise extensively with Financial Advisory leaders across the APAC region to deliver complex valuations for both audit support and strategic advisory engagements.
- Quality & Process Optimization: Ensure exceptional quality deliverables across the team by implementing rigorous internal processes and quality assurance frameworks. Manage and develop standard templates, model libraries, data sources, and review checklists for use across multiple markets.
- Strategic Expansion: Play a pivotal role in shaping the platform’s future expansion into adjacent service lines, including transaction services, financial modelling, forensics, restructuring, and corporate finance.
Key Requirements
- Education & Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher academic qualifications. You must hold relevant professional qualifications (CFA, CA/CPA, CVA, ASA, or similar) and possess the necessary credentials and experience to formally sign-off on Valuations.
- Experience: 8 to 15 years of highly relevant experience in Valuations, strictly within a professional services environment.
- Leadership Track Record: Proven experience building and leading high-performing teams. Prior experience operating within an offshore, Centre of Excellence (CoE), or shared-services environment will be considered a significant advantage.
- Technical Expertise: Deep technical mastery in business valuations, Purchase Price Allocation (PPA), impairment testing, and fair value measurement. Ideal candidates will also possess strong capabilities in valuing intangibles and complex financial instruments.
- Attributes & Mindset: A mindset heavily focused on technical excellence, continuous coaching, and producing quality deliverables. You must be highly comfortable navigating international settings, managing cross-border teams, and demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
