about the job
As the Lead Electrical Engineer – Secondary Systems, SCADA & Grid Compliance, you will serve as the technical authority for the "brains" of our renewable energy assets. Based at our headquarters with required travel to project sites, you will direct the full engineering lifecycle for secondary systems, from concept and detailed design through integration, testing, and final commissioning.
Key responsibilities include:
- System Design & Integration: Leading the engineering design for secondary electrical systems, Protection and Control (P&C), SCADA, Energy Management Systems (EMS), Power Plant Controllers (PPC), and associated communication networks (IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3, Modbus).
- Grid Compliance Leadership: Spearheading Grid Compliance Test (GCT) planning, execution, and close-out. You will serve as the primary technical liaison with national grid operators, statutory regulatory bodies, and utility stakeholders to ensure strict adherence to local grid connection requirements, grid codes, and international IEC standards.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Directing and supporting Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), protection testing, and integrated plant performance testing (active/reactive power, voltage, and frequency response).
- Technical Documentation: Reviewing and approving protection schematics, relay settings, interlocking/logic diagrams, I/O lists, SCADA architectures, and vendor submissions.
To be successful, you must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, and deep expertise navigating national utility frameworks and grid compliance protocols. Active registration as a Professional Engineer (with a practicing certificate) through relevant local statutory engineering boards is highly advantageous.
about the manager/team
You will step into a highly visible leadership position, directly managing and mentoring a specialized team of electrical, control, and commissioning engineers. You will be responsible for their technical development, work allocation, and the quality review of their engineering deliverables. Beyond your direct reports, this is a highly cross-functional role; you will partner closely with Project Managers, primary electrical design peers, and site teams. You will also represent the company externally, leading technical discussions with consultants, contractors, OEMs, utility operators, and regulatory authorities to ensure seamless project delivery and continuous improvement of our engineering standards.
