Regional FP&A Manager – Commercial Finance (Leadership Succession Track)

Position Overview
We are seeking an ambitious, high-caliber Regional FP&A Manager – Commercial Finance to join our regional headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. As part of a Fortune 500 global leader, this role acts as a primary strategic link between financial control and commercial growth across our regional footprint.
This position is designed as a high-potential (HiPo) succession benchmark. The successful candidate will work closely with senior executive leadership, driving P&L performance, commercial strategy, margin optimization, and regional expansion. Candidates with a clear track record of commercial acumen, matrix stakeholder management, and strategic agility will be fast-tracked for regional finance director and executive leadership roles across our global operations.
Strategic Objectives & Scope
Regional Scope: Oversight of financial strategy and commercial performance across 8–12 markets in Asia-Pacific / Southeast Asia.
Commercial Drive: Partner directly with Regional Commercial VPs, General Managers, Marketing, and Supply Chain leaders to optimize revenue, pricing, and gross margins.
Leadership Development: Built-in 24–36 month rotation and accelerated exposure plan to prepare the incumbent for Regional Finance Director / Country CFO roles.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercial Finance & Strategic Business Partnering
Revenue & Margin Optimization: Lead volume-price-mix analysis, trade spend effectiveness, pricing strategy, and promotional ROI across diverse regional markets.
Commercial Decision Support: Evaluate business cases, market expansion plans, new product launches, M&A integrations, and channel distribution models.
P&L Management: Own the regional commercial P&L performance reviews, identifying strategic risks, growth levers, and margin expansion opportunities.
2. Regional Financial Planning & Performance Management
Strategic Planning Cycles: Lead the regional Annual Operating Plan (AOP), quarterly forecasts, and 3-to-5-year Long-Range Planning (LRP) processes.
Executive Storytelling: Translate complex regional data into actionable strategic insights for global HQ, C-suite executives, and regional leadership teams.
Scenario Modeling & Stress Testing: Build and refine scalable financial models for macro-environmental shifts, currency fluctuations, inflation, and competitive market changes.
3. Transformation, Analytics & Governance
Digital & AI Transformation: Spearhead the adoption of advanced analytics, BI dashboards, and AI-assisted forecasting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Anaplan, SAP S/4HANA) to modernize FP&A workflows.
Process Standardization: Harmonize commercial finance frameworks and KPIs across regional operating entities to ensure consistency, governance, and transparency.
4. Leadership & Succession Development
Talent Development: Mentor and develop high-performing country/regional finance analysts.
Executive Shadowing: Participate in regional executive committee reviews, board presentations, and global finance summits as part of the leadership pipeline program.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience
8 to 12 years of progressive experience in FP&A, Commercial Finance, or Corporate Strategy within a Fortune 500, multinational corporation (MNC), or dynamic regional matrix environment.
Proven track record in commercial business partnering, revenue management, pricing strategy, and full P&L management across multiple geographic markets.
Industry background in FMCG, Retail, Technology, Consumer Healthcare, Industrial, or Logistics is highly desirable.
Education & Professional Certifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
Professional Qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CA) or an MBA from a reputable institution is preferred.
Technical Skills
Deep expertise in financial modeling, scenario planning, capital allocation, and valuation metrics (NPV, IRR, Payback).
Proficiency in enterprise ERPs (SAP, Oracle) and advanced enterprise FP&A/BI tools (Anaplan, Hyperion, Power BI, Tableau).
Strong fluency in data storytelling and presentation tools for C-suite engagement.
Leadership & Soft Skills
Strategic Vision: Ability to zoom out to global strategy and zoom in to operational drivers.
Stakeholder Influence: Strong executive presence with the ability to challenge commercial leaders constructively and drive alignment.
