about the job
The Resident Engineer acts as the primary technical baseline authority on-site representing the client and consulting firm. This role ensures that complex high-rise development works—spanning structural framing, deep foundation systems—strictly conform to design specifications, local building codes, and safety standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Site Supervision & Quality Assurance: Perform day-to-day inspections of high-rise structural elements (post-tensioning, reinforced concrete, structural steelwork, core walls, and façade systems) to verify material compliance and quality standards.
- Design & Technical Verification: Review engineering drawings, contractor submittals, method statements, and structural calculations to resolve site discrepancies and design clashes before execution.
- Contractor & Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate closely with main contractors, sub-contractors, architects, and quantity surveyors to maintain structural progress schedules and manage variations or design revisions.
- Testing & Inspection Protocol: Supervise material sampling and testing (soil testing, concrete cube testing, rebar tensile tests, ultrasonic testing) and issue non-conformance reports (NCRs) when quality standards fall short.
- Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Monitor site operations to align with statutory authority requirements, occupational health and safety standards, and local environmental regulations.
- Progress Documentation & Reporting: Maintain daily site activity logs, document milestone progress, log technical queries (RFIs), and provide structured updates during site progress meetings.
