About the Opportunity
Are you a senior technical underwriter or credit risk specialist with a strong background in Trade Credit, Surety Bonds, or Financial Guarantees?
Randstad is currently partnering exclusively with a leading national reinsurance institution to recruit a Vice President, Specialty – Credit/Surety. Reporting to the Head of Specialty / Chief Underwriting Officer, this strategic role will lead the underwriting, development, and profitable growth of the group’s Credit and Surety reinsurance portfolio across regional and selected international markets.
This is a key mandate designed for a technical leader who can combine rigorous financial analysis, counterparty credit assessment, and strong market distribution.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Growth & Strategy: do the Credit/Surety portfolio strategy across target markets (including Asia, MENA, and international hubs), driving profitable growth within approved risk appetites.
Technical Underwriting: Assess, price, and underwrite Treaty and Facultative risks across Trade Credit, Export Credit, Performance Bonds, Payment Bonds, Advance Payment Bonds, and Contract Bonds.
Credit & Financial Analysis: Perform detailed evaluations of obligor creditworthiness, counterparty financial health, security structures, economic trends, and country risk exposures.
Risk & Exposure Management: Monitor accumulation, concentration limits, and stress scenarios in close collaboration with Risk, Actuarial, Claims, and Retrocession teams.
Distribution & Partnerships: Build active relationships with specialist brokers, cedants, and MGAs to expand access to high-quality regional business.
Governance & Governance Standards: Establish clear underwriting guidelines, referral protocols, pricing frameworks, and documentation standards for Credit/Surety risks.
Capability Building: Provide technical mentorship to junior underwriters and contribute to internal playbooks, market intelligence, and training.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline. Professional insurance credentials (ACII or equivalent) are preferred.
Experience: Minimum 10+ years of experience in Credit Insurance, Surety Bonds, Trade Finance, Banking Credit Risk, or Specialty Reinsurance.
Technical Depth: Advanced capabilities in financial statement analysis, credit assessment, counterparty risk modeling, and portfolio concentration management.
Market Exposure: Experience interacting with international brokers, cedants, and MGAs across Asia, MENA, or global markets.
Macro Insights: Strong grasp of geopolitical, macroeconomic, and regulatory trends influencing credit risk cycles.
