about the role
This is a high-visibility leadership role tailored for a finance professional with a specialization in taxation. Reporting directly to the regional management, you will oversee the full spectrum of financial accounting, reporting, and treasury operations, while taking absolute ownership of corporate tax planning and compliance.
You will act as a strategic business partner, ensuring that the company's rapid expansion is supported by robust financial health, optimized tax strategies, and strict regulatory adherence.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Operations:
- Oversee the end-to-end accounting operations, including full-set accounts, month-end, and year-end financial closings.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in strict accordance with the Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS).
- Ensure tight working capital and cash flow management to support ongoing project executions and operational scaling.
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):
- Drive the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes, working closely with various department heads.
- Conduct detailed variance analysis (Actual vs. Budget) and provide actionable financial insights to the senior leadership team to support strategic decision-making.
- Financial Reporting & Operations:
- Taxation & Compliance:
- Lead and manage all direct and indirect tax matters for the company, ensuring absolute compliance with Malaysian tax laws (including SST, Corporate Tax, and Withholding Tax).
- Serve as the primary liaison with local tax authorities (LHDN, RMCD) and external tax agents, managing any tax queries, audits, or investigations efficiently.
- Audit & Internal Controls:
- Coordinate the annual statutory audit process, preparing all necessary audit schedules and liaising independently with external auditors.
- Continuously review, design, and enforce robust internal controls and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to mitigate financial and operational risks.
Key Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. A recognized professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or MIA membership) is strictly required.
- Experience: Minimum 6 to 8 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
- Tax Expertise: Hands-on understanding of Malaysian corporate tax, SST, and transfer pricing regulations is mandatory.
- Industry Background: Prior experience in the engineering, telecommunications, manufacturing, or renewable energy sectors is highly advantageous.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in ERP accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
- Attributes: A proactive, solutions-oriented leader with exceptional analytical skills. You must possess the professional gravitas and excellent communication skills required to manage complex stakeholder relationships and regulatory negotiations.
