The Role
This is a rare and highly strategic opportunity designed with a clear, long-term career trajectory. Operating as the pivotal management layer between the Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and the Finance Department, you will play a critical role in leading the Group Finance function.
Beyond standard controllership, this role is explicitly structured with a succession plan in mind. Over time, the successful candidate will progressively take on broader strategic and commercial responsibilities, ultimately paving the way to step into the Group CFO position.
Key Responsibilities
... - Strategic Leadership: Partner closely with and support the Group CFO in leading the overall Group Finance function, driving both operational and strategic financial initiatives.
- Operational Management: Serve as the crucial bridge between executive leadership and day-to-day finance operations, providing effective, hands-on leadership to the Finance Department.
- Delivery & Excellence: Oversee the end-to-end finance function to ensure the timely, accurate, and consistent delivery of all financial reporting and operational work.
- Process & Controls: Proactively identify areas for optimization, driving continuous process improvements and aggressively strengthening internal financial controls and corporate governance.
- Talent Development: Mentor, coach, and develop the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring the team is equipped to support the firm’s growth.
- Succession Readiness: Progressively absorb broader executive responsibilities, gaining the necessary exposure and strategic insight to prepare for the Group CFO role in the future.
Key Requirements
- Qualifications: A recognized Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, MICPA, MIA) is highly expected at this level.
- Audit Foundation: Prior experience in external audit is strictly required, providing a strong foundational grasp of compliance and financial reporting standards.
- Corporate Experience: Proven track record working within a larger corporate organization or a Public Listed Company (PLC) environment. Possess deep, hands-on expertise in complex corporate financial reporting.
- Attributes: Exceptional leadership gravitas with a proven ability to manage, motivate, and develop teams. You must possess a highly commercial mindset, excellent communication skills, and the strategic foresight required for C-suite succession.
