The Role: We are looking for a talented Senior Mechanical Designer to join an innovative R&D team and contribute to developing state-of-the-art automated machinery and systems. In this role, you will bridge the gap between blue-sky design and floor execution—handling everything from concept proposals to equipment buyoffs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of automated machinery using SolidWorks.
- Spearhead new machine design concepts and client proposals.
- Ensure all final designs meet strict functional, performance, and cost-effective specifications.
- Execute daily design tasks while carefully managing project timelines and time allocation.
- Actively support machine setup, test runs, and final equipment buy-offs.
- Generate comprehensive problem-finding reports and troubleshoot issues by working directly with external vendors and end-customers.
- Support the application, evaluation, testing, and continuous maintenance of the company's product line.
- Act as a technical gatekeeper by reviewing work submitted through SolidWorks to ensure internal procedures are followed.
- Prepare mechanical drawings and review them closely with the wider engineering team.
- Generate detailed B.O.M lists adhering to company formatting and standards.
What You Need to Succeed:
- Education: A Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience in machine design or automation. Previous team management experience is highly advantageous.
- Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with SolidWorks and MS Office (experience with Vectorworks is a plus).
- Demonstrated ability to produce 2D Assembly cross-section drawings and Module BOM lists.
- Strong capability in creating 2D Part Drawings with accurate tolerance indications.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong critical thinking: The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Highly organized and disciplined with a proven track record of hitting project timelines.
- A positive attitude coupled with a strong willingness to learn.
