This is a high-visibility, full-time opportunity for a dynamic communications professional to take complete ownership of the mission's public outreach, media engagement, and social media presence. Working closely with diplomatic staff and regional counterparts, you will drive campaigns that elevate the country’s profile, foster stakeholder partnerships, and support major cultural and bilateral initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, execute, and own the annual public diplomacy strategy and social media calendar.
- End-to-end content creation, management, and performance analytics across all primary website and social media platforms (including live event coverage, video creation, and campaign assets).
- Drive media monitoring, reporting, P.R. strategy, and actively build relationships with journalists, media outlets, civil society groups, and national stakeholders.
- Plan and execute events, managing logistics, stakeholder engagement, and coordination for major cultural milestones and high-level visits.
- Collaborate with regional missions (e.g., Bangkok, Philippines) and national agencies on joint initiatives, including educational, cultural, and language promotion projects.
- Engage and manage external service providers, creative agencies, and vendors to ensure seamless campaign delivery.
- Represent the mission in internal international communications networks and ensure alignment with institutional guidelines and compliance policies.
Requirements
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Media Studies, or a related field, OR a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a hands-on communications/social media role
- Technical Skills: Proven track record in social media management, platform analytics, content creation tools (e.g., Adobe Express/Suite), and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Melayu is required. Working knowledge of Mandarin is a strong advantage.
- Competencies: Strong interpersonal skills, solutions-oriented mindset, ability to work independently in a small team environment, and high discretion/sound judgment.
- Cultural & Regional Awareness: Familiarity with or a strong interest in international affairs, diplomacy, and cross-cultural engagement is highly preferred.
- Right to Work: Candidates must possess an existing permanent legal right to reside and work in Malaysia.
