Summary of Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head of Operations Audit in managing and supervising operations audit jobs throughout the planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases within specified deadlines.
- Support the Division’s activities required by the Management and/or organization’s operations.
- Lead a team or independently undertake audits in accordance with the annual audit plan approved by the Group Audit Committee.
- Derive audit observations from proper testing, assessment, and review of relevant and substantial evidence.
- Provide value-added recommendations to improve internal controls.
- Ensure that all Internal Audit activities are conducted in compliance with the organization’s objectives, policies, Code of Ethics, and acceptable Standards for the Professional Practices of Internal Auditing.
- Develop and/or maintain audit programs.
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
Operations Audit:
- Assist the Head of Operations Audit in carrying out internal audit strategies and executing the audit plan.
- Lead and/or independently undertake operations audit assignments or any other tasks assigned.
- Plan and manage the execution of operations audit assignments as per the annual audit plan.
- Assess and evaluate the adequacy and appropriateness of internal controls, systems, and processes established to mitigate risks within the organization.
- Analyze and perform necessary testing and validation to determine the effectiveness of controls and processes established.
- Recommend improvements to internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard organizational resources, promote organizational growth, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Ensure value-added observations and recommendations to management, including control gaps/non-compliances/enhancement opportunities on efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure recommendations are clearly presented and agreed to by the management.
- Prepare audit reports on the results of operations audit assignments and ensure timely issuance of reports.
- Provide appropriate guidance and coaching to team members in ensuring the timely completion of audit assignments and review work performed by team members.
- Follow-up on all audit recommendations that have been agreed upon by the management and validate the adequacy of the action taken by auditee to improve controls.
- Develop and maintain quality audit programs and audit documentation.
- Undertake continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality and increase efficiency in internal audit.
Ad-hoc/Other Assignments:
- Perform ad-hoc reviews or any other assignments/investigations as directed.
- Support Division’s activities as required by the Management and/or organization’s operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Accounting or Information System or related discipline.
- Professional certification program relevant to the role e.g., CPA/ACCA/CIA.
- At least five (5) years of working experience in auditing/consulting/risk management in Audit/Consultation Firm and/or financial institutions.
- Knowledgeable in auditing guidelines, regulatory requirements, and guidelines issued by relevant authorities of the financial services industry.
- Demonstrate effective working knowledge and understanding of the company's products, with the ability to apply said knowledge for the effective and efficient execution of the audit assignment.
- Demonstrate competency in performing audits and have the required skills and knowledge necessary to identify risks related to business, identify control deficiencies, and suggest how to mitigate risks. Sound knowledge of operational related matters.
- Demonstrate the ability to initiate, plan, execute and complete audit assignments within stipulated timeframes. Also, demonstrate the ability to lead audits and review work performed by team members to ensure the adequacy of audit scope and testing performed, accuracy of the conclusions reached, and completion of the assignment within the stipulated timeframe.
- Able to work independently when required to complete audit assignments and any tasks assigned.
- Demonstrate competency in providing audit reports in an appropriate form to intended recipients upon completion of audit works.
- Good knowledge in governance, risk, controls, internal audit best practices such as HQ functions (e.g., finance, procurement, HR, compliance, risk, operations), e-payment, fraud, investigation, etc.
- Knowledge of technology (e.g., applications, data analytics, automation) is an added advantage.
- Familiar with risk-based auditing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills. Well-versed in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Good writing skills in English & Bahasa Malaysia and good presentation skills.
- Computer literate - Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with CAATS such as ACL is an added advantage
