Role Overview
We are seeking a highly capable and detail-oriented Assistant Tax Manager to support and manage the Group’s tax compliance and advisory matters. This position is crucial in ensuring full compliance with both direct and indirect tax requirements across multiple jurisdictions, while identifying opportunities to optimize the Group’s overall tax position. Candidates with Big 4 tax experience are welcome; however, hands-on expertise in both corporate tax and SST/GST is a must-have.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tax Compliance & Reporting
Prepare and review corporate income tax returns, tax provisions, CP204/CP204A estimates, and CP58 forms.
Ensure timely and accurate submissions for indirect taxes such as Sales and Service Tax (SST), Withholding Tax (WHT), and TTX.
Assist in the preparation of Group and entity-level tax disclosures for audited financial statements.
2. Transfer Pricing
Support the preparation of Transfer Pricing Documentation (Schedule 1 & 2) in line with IRB guidelines.
Liaise with internal departments and external consultants to gather data for benchmarking and TP analysis.
3. Tax Advisory & Risk Management
Provide internal advisory on direct and indirect tax matters for business units, new projects, and cross-border transactions.
Identify and recommend tax planning opportunities to improve tax efficiency while ensuring compliance.
Assist in managing tax audits and queries from authorities, including liaising with the Inland Revenue Board (IRB), Customs, and tax advisors.
4. Process Improvement & Projects
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance internal tax processes and controls.
Participate in ad-hoc tax projects, including those involving other jurisdictions (Australia, Singapore, etc.).
Requirements
Degree in Accounting/Finance/Tax or a Professional Qualification (ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, or equivalent).
Minimum 5–7 years of relevant tax experience, preferably with Big 4 tax background or in-house tax role.
Mandatory experience in handling both direct (corporate tax, CP204, WHT) and indirect tax (SST, GST).
Sound knowledge of MFRS, Income Tax Act, and Sales & Services Tax Act.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with Microsoft Navision is a plus.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Self-motivated, meticulous, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Attributes
Experience in property development, construction, or hospitality industries will be an advantage.
Ability to manage stakeholders across departments and jurisdictions.
