Role Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and a strategic business partner to the CEO. The CFO will provide financial leadership, direction, and oversight for all financial operations of the Malaysia business unit. This includes financial strategy, reporting, governance, commercial finance, plant performance management, and compliance. The role is instrumental in supporting the company’s continued growth and operational excellence within a highly competitive and regulated manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Finance & Leadership
... Lead the overall financial strategy for the Malaysia business aligned with global goals.
Act as a financial advisor to the CEO and senior leadership on business planning and growth initiatives.
Monitor and report financial KPIs to local and global stakeholders.
2. Financial & Management Reporting
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports in accordance with local and global standards (MFRS/IFRS/US GAAP).
Drive meaningful insights through variance analysis, margin tracking, and operational reporting.
3. Manufacturing & Operational Finance
Partner with manufacturing and plant leadership teams to manage cost accounting, inventory, fixed assets, and capital expenditure controls.
Monitor plant performance including yield, productivity, OEE, and drive continuous improvement initiatives from a finance lens.
4. Budgeting, Forecasting & Business Planning
Lead annual budgeting, reforecasting, and long-range planning.
Align financial planning processes with production, supply chain, and sales forecasting.
5. Treasury, Tax & Compliance
Oversee cash flow management, FX exposure, working capital, and banking relationships.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations (corporate, indirect, transfer pricing) and manage audits and statutory filings.
6. Commercial & Business Partnering
Collaborate with Sales, Procurement, and Operations to assess profitability, pricing models, and customer margin analysis.
Support product costing and go-to-market decisions from a financial perspective.
7. Risk Management, Controls & Compliance
Strengthen internal controls, risk management practices, and adherence to group policies.
Ensure SOX/internal audit compliance where applicable.
8. Leadership & Team Development
Lead and develop the finance team across FP&A, controllership, and plant finance functions.
Promote a high-performance culture, knowledge sharing, and process excellence.
Requirements
Degree in Accounting/Finance; professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent are required.
At least 15 years of progressive experience in finance, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior finance leadership role.
Prior experience in manufacturing operations is essential (plant finance exposure is a strong plus).
Strong understanding of global MNC structures and matrix reporting environments.
Hands-on and strategic; capable of leading transformation, automation, and ERP integration (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
Strong leadership, communication, and business partnering skills with cross-functional stakeholders.
