About the Role
We are seeking a highly capable and strategic Financial Controller to lead the finance function across both plant operations and corporate office reporting for our Malaysian business. As a key member of the leadership team, the Financial Controller will be responsible for ensuring robust financial management, timely reporting, and strong internal controls in line with global standards and local compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all financial reporting and analysis for both plant and corporate office activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with group and statutory requirements.
Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, financial statements preparation, and group reporting packages.
Partner with operational and functional heads to drive financial insights, cost optimization, and strategic planning.
Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support decision-making at both operational and executive levels.
Ensure compliance with local statutory regulations, tax filings, audit requirements, and corporate policies.
Implement and strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures to mitigate financial risks.
Lead and develop a high-performing finance team across multiple locations (plant and head office).
Act as the key liaison with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies.
Support ad hoc projects including ERP enhancement, process improvement, and finance transformation initiatives.
Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA) is required.
Minimum 10 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3–5 years in a controllership role within a manufacturing environment.
Solid experience in both plant accounting and corporate office finance operations.
Strong technical knowledge in financial reporting standards (e.g., MFRS/IFRS), tax, and regulatory compliance in Malaysia.
Hands-on experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools; SAP experience is an advantage.
Proven ability to lead and develop finance teams across functions and locations.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong business acumen.
