The Finance Manager will oversee the full spectrum of finance and accounting activities for the Malaysia operations of a leading global oilfield equipment manufacturer. Reporting directly to the Regional Finance Director based in Singapore, the role is responsible for ensuring robust financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and operational finance processes. This role plays a critical part in business decision-making and supports cross-border collaboration with the regional and global finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with local and group accounting standards.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial results to regional headquarters.
Maintain accurate general ledger and ensure compliance with statutory and internal policies.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
Monitor financial performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
Collaborate with operational departments to ensure financial alignment with business goals.
Compliance & Internal Controls
Ensure compliance with all local statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.
Implement and maintain strong internal controls across all finance-related functions.
Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and regulatory bodies.
Operational Finance
Oversee cash flow management, working capital optimization, and treasury operations.
Support inventory and cost accounting functions, including margin analysis and cost tracking.
Provide financial input on pricing strategies, capex proposals, and investment decisions.
Business Partnering
Act as a finance business partner to the Malaysia country head and local operational leaders.
Provide financial insight and support for strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
Coordinate with regional and global finance teams to align processes and reporting.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ICAEW) is strongly preferred.
Minimum 8–10 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in oil & gas or heavy industry.
Strong knowledge of Malaysian financial regulations, tax compliance, and statutory reporting.
Proficient in ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Strong cross-border collaboration and stakeholder management experience.
