Job Summary
The Head of Investment and M&A will lead the company’s investment strategy and execution of merger and acquisition activities in alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives. This role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and executing investment opportunities, as well as managing all aspects of M&A transactions. The position will also provide financial and strategic insights to support corporate development and long-term growth, reporting directly to the CFO and working closely with key internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Strategy & Execution
Develop and implement the group’s investment roadmap in line with strategic and financial goals.
Lead market research and competitive analysis to identify new investment and partnership opportunities, including within the healthcare ecosystem (hospitals, clinics, digital health, pharma, etc.).
Evaluate potential investments, joint ventures, and strategic alliances from both financial and strategic perspectives.
M&A Origination & Execution
Source, assess, and lead end-to-end M&A transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic partnerships.
Manage due diligence processes, including coordination with legal, tax, financial, operational, and technical advisors.
Develop valuation models, business cases, and financial projections to support transactions.
Lead transaction negotiations, structuring, and execution.
Stakeholder Management
Work closely with the CFO, CEO, and Board on investment priorities, risks, and strategic recommendations.
Engage with bankers, financial advisors, legal counsel, and other professional service firms.
Prepare and present investment proposals, board papers, and post-deal performance reports.
Post-Merger Integration & Portfolio Management
Oversee post-merger integration efforts to ensure value realization.
Track and assess performance of portfolio investments and make recommendations for enhancement, restructuring, or divestment.
Risk Management & Governance
Ensure investments comply with internal governance standards and external regulatory requirements.
Monitor macroeconomic, healthcare industry, and policy developments impacting investment strategy.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA, CFA, or professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, CPA) is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, or strategic M&A, ideally with exposure to the healthcare sector.
Proven track record in leading end-to-end investment and M&A transactions.
Strong analytical, financial modelling, and valuation skills.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
Familiarity with the Malaysian regulatory and healthcare business landscape is an added advantage.
