About the OpportunityAs our Accountant, you'll be instrumental in maintaining the financial health of our Malaysia operations. You'll manage a comprehensive range of accounting duties, from daily transactions to financial reporting and compliance. This role offers the chance to work independently, contribute to strategic financial insights, and collaborate closely with both local and regional teams.
What You'll DoYour key responsibilities will include:
- Full-Set Accounting: Manage and maintain a complete set of accounts for our Malaysian operations.
- Billing & Collections: Prepare sales invoices and actively assist with receipt collection from clients.
- Vendor Management: Support the completion of vendor registrations for our Southeast Asia clients.
- Reconciliations & Schedules: Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements and various other accounting schedules.
- Financial Forecasting: Develop and prepare accurate cash flow forecasts.
- Financial Analysis: Review and analyze monthly accounts, including conducting detailed variance analysis.
- Expense Management: Verify and process staff expense claims.
- Payment Processing: Prepare and process payments, accurately entering them into our accounting software.
- Inventory Control: Maintain comprehensive inventory listings and costing records.
- Audit & Tax Support: Prepare essential schedules for audit and tax purposes, and manage SST returns.
- Intercompany Transactions: Prepare intercompany invoices and reconcile intercompany schedules for our head office.
- External Liaison: Coordinate effectively with auditors, tax consultants, and company secretaries.
- Process Improvement: Assist in the implementation of robust accounting controls, policies, and procedures.
- Finance Operations Support: Support the Finance Manager on daily operations, including forecasting and trend analysis.
Qualifications & Experience
- You possess a professional accounting qualification and are a member of MIA.
- You hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance.
- You bring a minimum of 5 years of working experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3 years specifically in a commercial environment.
- Prior experience in a regional role and/or within the service industry will be a distinct advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- You command a good level of English and Mandarin, both orally and in writing.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Salesforce and EPICOR (accounting software) is a plus.
- You possess a strong ability to understand business processes that impact costs.
- You demonstrate a strong ability to work independently and meet tight timelines/deadlines.
