about the job
Operational and Fleet Management
Serve as the primary liaison between the office and the ship Masters, providing essential navigational and operational support.
Ensure the efficient and satisfactory performance of all vessels to meet charterer requirements.
Oversee major fleet activities, including planning and attending to new-building, delivery, and sales of ships.
Crew Management and Development
Assist in the selection of suitable Masters, deck officers, and ratings.
Monitor and assess the performance of all deck staff to cultivate a high-performing culture.
Promote the health and welfare of ship personnel, and stay current on relevant rules and regulations for each rank.
Compliance, Auditing, and Maintenance
Conduct scheduled audits on navigation, mooring, cargo, and bunker procedures, as well as internal audits.
Perform ship inspections and attend to Oil Major vetting requirements to ensure strict adherence to company policies and industry standards.
Prepare, implement, and monitor the Deck Maintenance Program (PMS-Deck).
Financial Oversight and Ad-Hoc Duties
Prepare, implement, and monitor budgets and expenses related to the deck department, including purchases and cost control.
Handle other ad hoc duties as assigned by management.

skills and experience required
- Seeking a Master Mariner Class 1 Certificate of Competencies (CoC)/ CoC1 Master and cargo endorsements (Oil & Chemical). The role requires a minimum of two years of Master experience on a tanker, plus relevant shore-based work. Excellent English communication and the flexibility to travel and sail with vessels are also required.
