We are seeking a Windows Client Subject Matter Expert (SME) with extensive knowledge and experience in all facets of Microsoft Windows operating systems for client devices. The ideal candidate will have expertise in installation, configuration, troubleshooting, security management, patching, and deployment, with a primary focus on supporting user workstations and laptops within an organization. This role involves offering technical guidance, delivering training, and resolving complex issues related to the Windows client environment.
Responsibilities
Technical Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of Windows operating systems (Windows 10, 11, etc.) including features, functionalities, and best practices.
- Understanding of Active Directory management, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and user profile management.
- Expertise in Windows security configurations, patching strategies, and vulnerability management.
- Proficiency in deploying and managing Windows updates and application installations.
- Familiarity with system imaging and deployment tools like Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) or System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM).
Troubleshooting and Support:
... - Diagnosing and resolving complex Windows client issues related to system performance, application compatibility, network connectivity, and user access.
- Providing technical support to end-users on Windows client issues through phone, email, or remote access.
- Escalating critical issues to appropriate teams when necessary.
Implementation and Deployment:
- Designing and implementing new Windows client deployments, including hardware and software configurations.
- Managing the lifecycle of Windows clients, including upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning.
- Creating and maintaining standardized Windows client images and deployment packages.
Security and Compliance:
- Enforcing security policies on Windows clients to protect against cyber threats.
- Monitoring and managing user access controls, including privilege escalation and account management.
- Staying updated on emerging security threats and implementing necessary mitigations.
Documentation and Training:
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation for Windows client configurations, troubleshooting guides, and best practices.
- Delivering training sessions to end-users and IT support staff on Windows client operations and features
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of Windows operating systems and related technologies
- Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and SCCM
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Relevant IT certifications like Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) Windows 10 or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) are often preferred
