As the Assembly Department Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end leadership of the assembly organization, covering process engineering and equipment maintenance. You will define the organizational structure, set clear operational targets, and ensure technical resources are equipped with the latest industry knowledge. This role requires a leader who can navigate complex technical challenges, manage high-level stakeholder relationships, and drive continuous improvement across quality, cost, and productivity metrics.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Development: Define and manage an organizational structure that provides complete technical coverage for engineering and maintenance. Coach and mentor team members to enhance technical expertise and interpersonal skills.
Operational Excellence: Establish clear goals and KPIs for assembly operations, including yield, cycle time, and productivity. Regularly monitor performance and lead continuous improvement initiatives to meet or exceed targets.
Technical and Systems Management: Oversee the implementation of advanced Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and automated operational tools. Establish robust preventive maintenance and calibration systems to optimize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
Financial and Strategic Planning: Manage departmental budgets, including spare parts and cost control systems. Justify improvement projects with Return on Investment (ROI) analysis and plan for capacity expansion as required.
Stakeholder and Quality Management: Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers and suppliers to resolve quality and equipment issues. Ensure strict compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and industrial standards, particularly regarding change control.
Requirements
Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of assembly processes, electronic packaging, machinery, and materials.
Systems Knowledge: Experience working with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Quality Management Systems (QMS), and environmental standards.
Leadership Experience: Proven ability to coach, advise, and develop multi-disciplinary technical teams.
Analytical Skills: Capable of analyzing unit costs and ROI to contribute to the company's overall profitability. Ability to establish systematic problem-solving and performance-tracking methodologies.
Communication: Excellent communication skills for regular reporting to upper management and effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
