The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be a strategic and hands-on executive, reporting directly to the CEO/Board of Directors. This role is responsible for directing the entire financial, accounting, and strategic planning functions of the company, ensuring scalable growth, robust credit risk management, and regulatory compliance within the fintech lending space. The ideal candidate will be a key business partner in driving the company's expansion and strategic partnerships with large conglomerates.
Roles & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Partnering
Strategy & Planning: Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and Board, formulating and executing long-term corporate strategies, financial modeling for business expansion, and capital raising initiatives.
Strategic Decision Making: Lead the financial evaluation of all major business decisions, including new product launches, technology investments, market entry strategies, and new conglomerate partnership models.
Business Expansion: Drive financial and operational readiness for business expansion, including securing financing, evaluating international market opportunities, and optimizing the capital structure to support rapid growth.
Risk Oversight (Credit & Financial): Oversee the integrity and effectiveness of the company’s credit risk assessment methodologies, ensuring prudent lending practices, appropriate provisioning, and robust portfolio management for MSME financing.
Financial Management & Accounting Oversight
Financial Operations: Oversee all financial and accounting functions, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets, ensuring the provision of timely and accurate financial statements.
Financial Reporting & Compliance: Direct the preparation of financial reports in compliance with MFRS/IFRS and local regulatory standards. Manage external audits and ensure timely, accurate submission of all statutory and tax filings.
Treasury & Cash Flow: Manage the company's treasury function, optimize working capital management, and develop highly accurate cash flow forecasting models to ensure liquidity and efficient use of funds.
Budgeting & FP&A: Lead the annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes. Provide in-depth financial planning and analysis (FP&A) to monitor performance against strategic goals and drive cost efficiency across all departments.
Stakeholder Management & Corporate Governance
Conglomerate Partnerships: Act as a key financial liaison in establishing and maintaining financial frameworks for partnerships with large conglomerates, ensuring clear financial metrics and governance aligned with agreements.
Regulatory Liaison: Manage relationships with banks, investors, regulatory bodies (e.g., Bank Negara, Securities Commission), and external financial advisors.
Corporate Governance: Establish and maintain robust internal controls and financial policies that adhere to the highest standards of corporate governance and operational efficiency.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, or MIA) is mandatory.
Experience: Minimum 10-15 years of progressive experience in finance leadership roles, with at least 5 years serving as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager, ideally within the Fintech, Banking, or MSME lending sectors.
Fintech Acumen: Deep understanding of fintech business models, digital lending platforms, and technology integration with financial services.
Strategic & Analytical Skills: Exceptional financial modeling, analytical skills, and the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable business strategies for the executive team.
Communication & Leadership: Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of managing and mentoring high-performing finance teams and managing diverse, high-level stakeholders.
