Position Summary The Finance Director will be a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for shaping and executing the company's financial strategy. This role requires a hands-on leader who can oversee all financial functions, ensure compliance with corporate governance and regulatory requirements for a listed entity, and act as a strategic business partner to drive profitability and long-term value creation.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Strategic Financial Leadership
Develop and execute the company's financial strategy, aligning it with overall business goals and growth initiatives.
Provide insightful financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic advice to the CEO and Board of Directors on key business decisions, including M&A activities, capital expenditure, and new market entry.
Lead the annual budgeting, financial planning, and forecasting processes to support sustainable business growth.
2. Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee all finance functions, including accounting, treasury, tax, and internal controls.
Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting, including statutory reporting for a listed company (e.g., quarterly and annual reports).
Maintain strong relationships and act as a key liaison with external auditors, bankers, tax agents, and other regulatory bodies (e.g., Bursa Malaysia, Securities Commission).
Manage treasury and cash flow, ensuring adequate funding for operations and capital projects while optimizing working capital.
3. Governance and Compliance
Ensure strict adherence to corporate governance practices, MFRS (Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards), and all relevant laws and regulations for a public-listed company.
Develop, implement, and monitor robust internal control frameworks to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
Manage all tax planning and compliance activities, ensuring the company's tax position is optimized while remaining fully compliant.
4. Business Partnership & Performance Management
Act as a trusted business partner to department heads, providing financial insights to improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness across the manufacturing plants.
Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive initiatives to improve profitability and financial performance.
Evaluate and manage financial risks, including market risk, credit risk, and operational risk.
5. Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development within the finance department.
Oversee talent management and succession planning for key finance roles.
Candidate Requirements
Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., MIA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is a must. An MBA is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Finance Director, Head of Finance).
Proven experience in a public-listed manufacturing company in Malaysia is highly preferred.
Solid experience in managing financial operations, corporate finance, and compliance within a large-scale organization.
Skills:
Deep knowledge of MFRS, Bursa Malaysia listing requirements, and the Companies Act 2016.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in modern ERP and financial systems.
Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.
