Position Summary The Finance Director will serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for the overall financial health and strategic direction of the company. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience within the built environment or real estate solutions industry and a proven track record as a Finance Director. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage all financial functions, ensure strong corporate governance, and act as a strategic business partner to optimize performance and profitability.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Strategic Financial Leadership
Develop and execute the company's financial strategy, aligning it with business objectives and long-term growth plans.
Provide expert financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic advice to the CEO and Board on critical business decisions, including capital investments, project financing, and risk management.
Lead the annual budgeting, financial planning, and forecasting processes to ensure robust and realistic targets are set and achieved.
2. Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, treasury, tax, and project finance.
Ensure the preparation and presentation of timely, accurate, and compliant financial reports, including statutory reports, management accounts, and project-specific financial statements.
Manage treasury and cash flow, ensuring adequate funding for projects and operations while optimizing working capital.
Maintain strong relationships with external auditors, bankers, tax authorities, and other financial institutions.
3. Governance and Compliance
Uphold the highest standards of corporate governance and ensure strict adherence to all relevant accounting standards (MFRS), laws, and regulations in Malaysia.
Develop, implement, and monitor a robust internal control framework to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data across all projects.
Manage all tax planning and compliance activities, ensuring the company's tax position is optimized while remaining fully compliant.
4. Business Partnership & Performance Management
Act as a trusted business partner to project managers and department heads, providing financial insights to improve project profitability, manage costs, and enhance operational efficiency.
Drive financial performance by analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
Evaluate and manage financial risks inherent in the E&C industry, such as contract risks, credit risks, and market risks.
5. Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Oversee talent management and succession planning for key finance roles.
